A native of The Dominican Republic, Melina has over 15 years of experience in medical and community interpreting and translating.
For five years, she worked as an interpreter and cultural liaison for the Independent School District #241 in Albert Lea, MN, as well as the MN Department of Human Services as an interpreter in the Albert Lea, MN office.
For the last seven years, Melina has worked for AALV, Inc (The Association of Africans Living in Vermont) as a medical interpreter for the University of Vermont Medical Center.
Melina has completed a 40 hour medical interpreting certification through AALV, Inc. She has also successfully completed the ALTA Interpretation Code of Ethics and General Translation tests, LanguageLine Academy Certification of Competence in Language Interpreting English-Spanish and LanguageLine’s Interpreter Readiness Assessment.
